OVEL Inc. (Shibuya, Tokyo; Representative Director Kosei Oka) will launch the Cyber Weakness Assessment on October 29, 2026. On behalf of the IT department, the service finds "last-mile" entry points that IT teams alone struggle to see, such as connections used by contractors and maintenance vendors, group sites, and factory and building equipment. Our engineers, whose core business is control system (OT/ICS) security, work on site at both headquarters and production sites without stopping operations. We are accepting early-adopter companies, mainly manufacturers and their group companies.
Background
According to Japan’s National Police Agency, ransomware cases in the first half of 2026 reached 123, the most for any half-year, and about 60% of affected organizations spent more than 10 million yen on recovery. Three quarters of infections came through VPN devices and remote desktop. Maintenance lines set up by contractors, connections to overseas sites, and factory equipment are managed by different departments or companies, which makes them hard for the IT department to track. Attackers are now targeting this last mile.
What the service does
Together with the client, we choose the one business that must not stop, then trace the intrusion paths that could stop it, from the headquarters IT environment to contractor and maintenance connections, links with group companies, and production equipment.

- STEP 1: Cyber Weakness Assessment (2 to 4 weeks)After signing an NDA, our engineers visit headquarters and the main production site, interview the departments involved, and check where attackers could get in, how far they could spread, and how operations would be restored. Scans and bringing in equipment are limited to what is agreed in writing in advance.
- STEP 2: Executive briefingWe present the weaknesses as intrusion paths seen from the attacker’s side, with a summary for the board and a detailed report for the CISO, IT, and production teams.
- STEP 3: Remediation support and ongoing operation (paid, quoted individually)Optional. Clients can also finish after STEP 2.
Early adopter program
We will accept up to five early-adopter companies. For companies that agree to be published as a case study (company name and logo) and to an interview, STEP 1 and STEP 2 are free or offered at a special price. Otherwise, the service is paid and quoted individually.
